Why is the T shirt unisex and one size?
In efforts to minimize waste from overproduction we used a standard unisex fit that should work for most.
Where is the T shirt made ?
The 2020T is proudly made in Fairfax county Virginia by a sustainable apparel manufacturer in the USA.
Why might it take a few weeks to get my T shirt ?
We make small batches we know we can sell, sometimes we sell out and we end up selling the 2020T before we make it, so we can guarantee we don't waste resources or energy in our production.
Isn't making more T shirts using more energy and therefore contradictory to the cause?
With any other conventional T shirt yes, but The Official 2020T is made using renewable energy in mainland USA, reducing carbon footprint and paying our workers fairly.
Why does the official 2020T cost more than a conventional T shirt ?
The integrity from source to story is the opposite of disposable fast ‘throw away’ fashion. It comes at a cost, a fair cost ensuring all workers are paid and our materials and processes are of the best quality and standards with minimum impact to the environment.
What is the markup on the T shirt?
We are advocates for source to story transparency, you get what you pay for. We cover our costs and don't add markups to maintain a fair price for you. U.S. shipping is included, but there is a small $1.50 processing fee.
What is C2C certification?
The Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard guides designers and manufacturers through a continual improvement process that looks at a product through five quality categories — material health, material reutilization, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness. A product receives an achievement level in each category — Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum — with the lowest achievement level representing the product’s overall mark.
Product assessments are performed by a qualified independent organization trained by the Institute. Assessment Summary Reports are reviewed by the Institute, which certifies products meeting the Standard requirements, and licenses the use of the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ word and design marks to the product manufacturer. Every two years, manufacturers must demonstrate good faith efforts to improve their products in order to have their products re-certified.

Discharge printing methods using aromatic solvents and plastisol printing methods using phthalates and PVC are prohibited
All operators must have an environmental policy including target goals and procedures to minimise waste and discharges
Raw materials, intermediates, final textile products as well as accessories must meet stringent limits regarding unwanted residues
Furthermore, “Minimum social criteria based on the key norms of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) must be met by all processors and manufacturers.” Some of the key social criteria include:

Isn't the fashion and apparel industry just as bad as petrochemical in terms of energy use and waste?
Fashion and apparel industries are one of the most resource intensive industries in the world both in terms of natural and human resources.
1 trillion kilowatt hours are used every year by the global textile industry = 10% of total CARBON IMPACT
20% of industrial fresh WATER POLLUTION comes from textile treatment & dyeing
As the population grows apparel consumption is expected to rise by 63% by 2030 that's equivalent to 500 Billion T shirts. We believe that all apparel should be designed with intent, made with integrity, sourced and sold with transparency.
2020T IS DESIGNED WITH INTENT, MADE RIGHT, FROM THE BEST MATERIALS WITHOUT THE MARKUP
How do I reduce the negative impact post purchase and care for my 2020T?
70% of negative energy use comes from consumer care so you can do your bit to reduce that by always using a cold water wash, line drying and Re-use, Re- purpose, Re-cycle to close the loop.
What is extended life responsibility ?
The quality of the materials and production of the 2020T will allow you to enjoy it for years. Once you’ve finished with it be mindful that 80% of new clothes purchased annually end up in a landfill. Please consider ways to extend the life of the T shirt by re-using, re-purposing and ultimately re-cycling. It is designed with intent 100% GOTS Organic cotton and can be easily disambled to continue in a closed loop system as a last resort we also offer a take back program, drop us a note for more information.
